The Top 50 Alternative Wedding First Dance Songs part 1 Songs 50-41
So you are planning your wedding. Congratulations on your engagement. Now you have a thousand things to plan out for a day that will whizz past before you even realise it. Most of the things that you need for your special day will cost a fortune. But one of the hardest decisions, even though it’s a free one, is what song will you celebrate your new marriage to, in your first dance. Or perhaps you are just looking for a playlist of music for the evening and want to avoid all the usual cliches.
It’s easy to be predictable. You went to a wedding last week and their first dance was Eric Clapton’s “Wonderful Tonight” . You went to a wedding a few months back and it was Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol, and you remember the couple that had Al Green’s “Let’s stay together”
There’s nothing wrong with any of those songs but you really want to have something different. Something that less people will have heard of, something that’s romantic, but something that no’one else you know has had.
I decided to put together a list of alternate first dance songs for your wedding.
Potentially as I do this I’m going to get some great comments suggesting songs I hadn’t previously heard or thought of so this may become the top 53, 74 or even 100.
There aren’t really any rules to this, but I tried to only have one song from any one artist.
50) I’ll have to say I love you in a song – Jim Croce
49) Take me to heart – Jon Allen
48) A Fine Romance – Billie Holiday
47) You’re my home – Billy Joel
46) Love’s Sweet Song – Lucky Jim
45) If you could read my mind – Gordon Lightfoot
44) Your Song – Ellie Goulding
43) Wishing on a star – Paul Weller
42) Heartbeats – Jose Gonzalez
41) Flightless Bird, American Mouth – Iron & Wine
